Digital Systems Program (DSP)

The DSP is part of the More Trains, More Services (MTMS) Program. Its purpose is to replace current signalling and train control technology with modern and internationally proven intelligent systems. DSP will help improve reliability, increase capacity and enhance customer experience of NSW’s railways.

Scope :

The CWG team provided project management, contract and commercial management, as well as technical management services for the DSP Onboard Systems client team. Our key works included:

  • DSP Onboard System Work Package definitions (scope, time and cost) for five (5) unique NSW passenger rollingstock fleets.
  • Led a multidisciplinary team to develop and execute direct negotiation and contracting packaging strategies for onboard subsystem packages.
  • Successfully awarded AUD 50m+ in contract variations to a Tier 1 Supplier (Tranche 1 Works) and engaged direct negotiations with another Tier 1 Supplier to award a further AUD 50m+ in contract variations (Tranche 2 Works).
  • Developed five tailored Works and Services Briefs and associated returnable schedules.
  • Managed complex stakeholder client and supplier relationships in the technical, delivery and commercial domains.
  • Obtained Director and Executive Director approval to award AUD 50m+ in contract variations to multiple suppliers and contractors via existing Deeds and/or Project Agreements.
  • Developed a Delivery Program for the design, procurement, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of DSP Onboard Systems Scope of Works (OSoW) assets.
  • Lead and developed DSP OSoW direct negotiation and contract packaging strategies in the context of existing contractual environments, other in-flight DSP work-packages, other in-flight TfNSW delivery programs and DSP system integration requirements.
  • Direct negotiation of DSP OSoW delivery with suppliers and contractors.
  • Provided project management tactical and strategic direction to the DSP Onboard Systems client team.
  • Provided project management tactical direction to the DSP Systems Integration Committee.
  • Provided project management leadership to the DSP Onboard Systems client team.
  • Achieved Project Control Group approval for a significant change request to Final Business Case scope.
  • Drafted amendments to the ATP Onboard Project Deed.
